A US state business owner found a strange message on his answering machine in mid-October: The caller wanted to clarify the details of a hit-and-run crime involving his son. He offered $5,000 for it in the message. The caller apparently dialed the wrong number – police eventually found and arrested the Cleveland man.
The thwarted contract murder was preceded by a dispute between father and son. 58-year-old Desmen Ramsey had apparently looked too deeply into the glass and planned to have his offspring killed. But instead of calling a killer, he got the answering machine at a Westlake store.
In the message, he named his son. “I don’t care where he is, what he’s doing or who he’s with, kill him…”, the 58-year-old can be heard saying in the recording released by police.
Ramsey was eventually charged with complicity in murder. The security deposit was set at $500.00. Despite the incident, his son refused police protection.
