A Swedish marine technology expert suspects that the explosive charge could have been attached to the Nord Stream 1 pipeline by an underwater robot or diver.
Oskar Franberg, a marine expert at Blekinge University of Technology in southern Sweden, has several theories about how the explosion of the Nord Stream I pipeline could have happened in late September. He bases this, among other things, on photos commissioned by the newspaper “Expressen” of the damage by a Norwegian specialized company.
Franberg basically excludes a natural occurrence. An attack by a ship on the sea surface is not unlikely either. Vessel traffic is well documented by radar.
Submarine or underwater drone?
More plausible is an action by highly specialized divers who were brought to the site in question by a smaller submarine and released there. Whether the explosive was placed by a remote-controlled underwater drone.
It cannot be ruled out that an explosive was placed in the pipeline from the start or that the bomb was brought to the site of detonation by a cleaning robot.
