The husband of American politician Nancy Pelosi has been attacked, according to a spokesperson. An attacker broke into Pelosi’s San Francisco home Friday morning and “violently assaulted 82-year-old Paul Pelosi,” spokesman Drew Hammill said Friday. The Democrat and Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives was not in town at the time.
The attacker has been arrested and the motive for the attack is under investigation. Businessman Pelosi is now receiving medical care in a hospital. He will “probably make a full recovery,” it says. As various American media unanimously report, the man will probably have to undergo brain surgery because of the serious injuries.
The attacker shouted “Where’s Nancy?” multiple times Friday night, the New York Times and the Washington Post wrote, citing officials. The Wall Street Journal reported that the man then hit 82-year-old Paul Pelosi with a hammer.
Pelosi is a frequent target of verbal attacks from the American political right. Ex-President Donald Trump continues to call her “Crazy Nancy”.
