A total of nine migrants were crammed into a small space in a tractor car. A Ukrainian was at the wheel of the car that was stopped at the border with Burgenland.
Refugees on the illegal transports of people smugglers do not have to take into account a particularly high driving comfort, but the current case shows how unscrupulously the criminals take advantage of the plight of migrants. As many people as possible are crammed into a car to raise extra money. While vans have so far been used mainly, tractors are increasingly switching to inconspicuous cars. However, space is very limited there.
Also child among refugees
At the border crossing at Neckenmarkt, army soldiers and police officers stopped a towing car, in which nine Syrians – including a child – were next to the driver. Because there was not enough space, four men had to squeeze into the trunk of the vehicle. None of them could show any documents.
Ukrainian as a smuggler
Special: There was no man at the wheel of the car, as in almost all cases of smuggling, but a woman. It was a Ukrainian woman who had brought the refugees across the border from Hungary. She was arrested.
