A 47-year-old employee of the company Antex Fibers from Andoain (Gipuzkoa) has passed away this Saturday morning, after being trapped in a machine, according to a note from the LAB union.

According to the Ertzaintza, the facts are happened at 1 pm. near Sorabilla, in Andoain, when the worker was trapped by a machine and died. The toilets moved to the place have only been able to confirm his death.

“We want to express our grief and solidarity to family, friends and colleagues. Another death at work caused by capitalism, another destroyed family and another social drama,” he lamented. “Since the 1990s, occupational health regulations across Europe have required the adaptation of machines and equipment to rule out any risk situation. If a machine presents these kinds of risks, it is because the employer does not follow the rules,” the union assures.

In addition, he has denounced that “the Basque government does not want” enforce the employer the responsibility that belongs to him, and that behind it lies the political decision”. For this reason, he has called for participation in the protest mobilizations that will be convened shortly.
