Too Hot October – Last Tropical Night Recorded in History

Date:

A sad record: while autumn weather with fog has already set in in the lowlands in recent days, late summer is still being announced at higher altitudes. There was also a sad record: the last tropical night in the history of measurements in Austria.

According to the experts at the storm center, the unusually warm night was recorded in Salzburg. “The Kolomansberg has set the alarming record, setting the last tropical night in Austria’s record history with a low temperature (!) of 20.4 degrees,” it said on Twitter.

A tropical night is defined as when the temperature does not fall below 20 degrees between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

It was already announced that the last days of October would be summer again – however, the mountain and hill country is a favorite with temperatures up to 25 degrees. This October is far from normal, it could well be the warmest in record history.
