More than 100 municipalities in the Basque Country receive 114 million euros

Of these, 60.3 million have been approved for the Basque capitals: Bilbao, 23.3 million; San Sebastian, 18.4 million, and Vitoria-Gasteiz, 18.6 million.

A total of 114 million euros in Next Generation European Funds have already been awarded to more than a hundred municipalities in the Basque Country and in particular to 60.3 million are authorized for the capitals: 23.3 million for Bilbao; 18.4 million for San Sebastián and 18.6 million for Vitoria-Gasteiz.

The President of the Association of Basque Municipalities-Eudel, Gorka Urtaran, and the Minister of Finance and Economy, Pedro Azpiazu, reported on these funds at a joint press conference after a meeting on European financing.

Of the total of 114 million euros, 90 million euros are direct transfers from the ministries and the majority has been allocated to: mobility-related projects sustainable, environmentally friendly projects and low emissions.

In case of small municipalitiesmost projects are related to the installation of broadband.

The remaining 24 million euros has been allocated by the Basque government, through the already awarded Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans.

These amounts are set to increase in the coming months as funding is expected to be allocated for other projects, including energy efficiency in public buildings.
