In Upper Austria, a dragon boat ran aground on the Danube on Sunday afternoon at the Ottensheim power plant. The 20 occupants jumped into the cold water of the river because they were afraid the boat would capsize.
High waves from another passing ship caused water to enter the boat, causing the boat to skew, said a spokeswoman for the Upper Austria police. The people therefore jumped into the water and swam in the direction of Ottensheimer Ufer.
Anyone could achieve this. The people contracted mild hypothermia, but were otherwise unharmed. The fire brigade, the Red Cross and the police were on the scene.
