During a Russian airstrike on Ukraine on Monday, parts of a fired Russian missile fell on a village near the border in northern Moldova (Republic of Moldova). This was announced by the Ministry of the Interior in the capital Chisinau.
Windows had shattered in some houses in the town of Naslavcea (pictured below) and no injuries were reported, according to initial findings.
According to Ukrainian sources, the attacks with more than 50 cruise missiles and missiles targeted seven areas.
Ukraine shot down missile on approach
According to Ukrainian military information, the Russian missile was intended to hit the hydroelectric power station on the Dniester River near Novodnistrovsk, about ten kilometers away. However, Ukrainian air defenses shot down the missile as it approached.
The Ministry of Defense of Moldova has confirmed that the Russian missile did not violate Moldovan airspace. In a similar large-scale airstrike on October 10, three Russian missiles flew through the airspace of Moldova, which was not involved in the war.
