According to a new gas supply contract with Energie Ried, an 83-year-old pensioner in the Innviertel would have to pay more than six times as much per month (841 euros) from January 2023, despite a low pension.
The bad news reached Maria Ritter last Thursday in the form of a letter from Energie Ried. “This letter stated that my previous gas supply contract is now being terminated. I now have until December 1 to decide whether I want to accept the follow-up contract with significantly changed conditions,” said the 83-year-old.
841 euros with a pension of 1300 euros
But the new conditions are tough: “I used to have to pay 130 euros per month for gas. In the future they want €841 from me. It’s crazy when you consider that my pension is only around 1300 euros – how should that work?”
Shocked by inhumanity
The single person in a house in Ried/I. living senior woman is desperate, thinking frantically about how she can get by financially in the future. “I have other expenses, such as electricity and water. Yes, and I should eat something every now and then. I’m really shocked that people are seriously prescribing something like that,” Ritter said.
Only heat one room
She plans to heat only one room in the future instead of three. “Unfortunately, that doesn’t do me any good in the short term. Because it takes nine months before the lump sum prescribed to me can be reduced. That’s why I asked Energie Ried, but they don’t want to reduce it.”
especially bitter
It is particularly bitter that in Ritter it touches a person who was active in charitable work until the very end. She has not only volunteered for the Romania Aid, but has also always donated a lot. “I’ve been doing that for 40 years – I was recently back in Timisoara with an aid transport.” Reason: Her late husband Franz was a “Banater-German” who was expelled in 1944.
