A total of 50 fines – Johnson has to pay a fine for corona parties

Date:

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has now been fined for illegal celebrations during the Corona lockdown in Downing Street. In total, London police have already imposed more than 50 fines in the “Partygate” scandal – they are trying to move the ongoing investigations forward as quickly as possible. It is quite possible that even more fines will be handed out.

There’s probably a hangover in Downing Street after the Prime Minister’s illegal celebrations. A government spokeswoman confirmed that both Johnson and his Treasury Secretary, Rishi Sunak, had been fined. “We have no further details, but we will inform you again when we have,” the spokeswoman said. Britain’s Yellow Press suspects his wife Carrie should be expecting one too: all three of them were at the prime minister’s birthday party in June 2020.

Some celebrations were tolerated, and some included the Prime Minister
The “Partygate” affair put a lot of pressure on him – even from the ranks of his Conservative Party his resignation was called for. He tolerated parties at his official residence and is said to have attended some in person. However, since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, support for the British prime minister has increased again.

Only about 60 euros fine
At the end of March, 20 sentences had already been handed out and dozens more are now being added. However, the penalties should not be very painful for the offenders: the fines should be in the order of £50 (about £60).
