As part of a “tough action” against terrorism and extremism, officials in domestic prisons have secured 103 prohibited items!
Whether Islamism, right-wing or left-wing radicalization – a few days before the second anniversary of the bloody attack in the Austrian capital, about 700 officials from the judiciary and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution poured into 28 Austrian prisons and put rural cell in the fight against extremism and terrorism head of the resident.
103 prohibited items seized
And this with alarming “success”: in the course of a total of 268 raids on cells, industrial premises and several other prison areas across Austria, the 655 prison officers were deployed with the support of 22 investigators from the state offices for the protection of the constitution and counter-terrorism have seized as many as 103 prohibited items.
The shocking list of attacks:
- Nine weapons
- Nine electronic means of communication (mobile phones and SIM cards)
- 21 addictive substances or drugs
- 43 Other Prohibited Items

“We must not and will under no circumstances allow terrorism to divide our society. I would like to thank all those involved, especially the employees of the Austrian penal system, for their important commitment,” Justice Minister Alma Zadic (Greens) told the “Krone”.
