According to the Ministry of the Environment, the payment of the climate bonus will be fully completed by mid-October. But some things seem to have failed: Every day 15,000 citizens call the hotline – mainly because they still don’t have their money.
Many of the callers are from third countries, as some of them have to re-check their residence status with the Ministry of the Interior. However, many are also surprised that they did not get the bonus because they meet all the requirements. They should still receive their climate bonus via a separate bank transfer or by sending the vouchers in the coming weeks, but for that an employee of the climate bonus hotline must be reached – and that is anything but easy.
60 employees have to handle 15,000 calls
Because many of the callers hang on the line for hours or do not come through at all. No wonder, only 60 permanent employees process the requests. On peak days (which the ministry does not see at the moment), up to 200 employees are employed. The current 15,000 calls per day have already been exceeded, with about 60,000 calls on individual days.
In view of the large crowds, the ministry recommends that you send your application with your details via the online form to klimabinus.gv.at/kontakt. You will receive an answer within a few days.
