A farm worker in Carinthia launched a large-scale search on Saturday using police helicopters and sniffer dogs.
A farmer from Liebenfels was desperately looking for his 38-year-old worker from Lithuania. The man found him still asleep in his bed on Saturday morning. He kept an eye out because the man had failed to show up for work at the courthouse. When he entered the room a second time to wake him up, the bed was suddenly empty. Wallet, cell phone and ID cards were still around.
The family of the farm owner has searched the entire area of the farm and the surrounding area. They were also looking for him in the city. In the afternoon the police were alerted and started a large-scale search with rescue dog squadrons, police helicopters and fire brigades.
“Sleep Your Drunkenness”
At 5:58 pm, the missing person was finally found unharmed on the farm grounds. But nobody expected that: “He stated that the night before, after drinking the right amount of alcohol, he wanted to be alone and therefore slept on hay bales in an adjacent building,” said a St. Veit police officer. More than 100 emergency services have been looking for him.
