After a dispute between two drunks, a 25-year-old had to answer for attempted murder at the regional court of St. Pölten. The jury sentenced him to six years in prison for aggravated assault.
“I didn’t want to kill him. I just didn’t know what I was doing anymore,” explains the 25-year-old. He just lost control of the alcohol and drug intoxication. At the time, he did not want to believe that this “outage” could have been fatal.
Charged with attempted murder
Now the Upper Austrian had to answer to court for attempted murder. On June 4, a dispute between him and a 54-year-old opponent at the train station in St. Peter an der Au in the Amstetten district almost turned into disaster. After several mutual, intoxicating rants of assault, the 25-year-old pushed his older opponent onto the job.
Passers-by rushed to help the injured—just two minutes before the next train moved on. Last-minute rescue for the public prosecutor’s office in St. Pölten. According to the defense, the multiple criminals did not act intentionally. The jury therefore sentenced him to six years in prison for aggravated assault – not final.
