“With will for the agreement”. So he comes tomorrow, Wednesday, Elkarrekin Podemos-IU to the meeting called by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Azpiazu, for the negotiations on the budgets for 2023. According to his parliamentary spokesman, Miren Gorrotxategi, they will send a document in which they have gathered their main requests.

Azpiazu last week expressed his intention to expand support for the next fiscal year’s accounts, and called on the groups willing to negotiate for an initial meeting. The contact round starts with EH Bildu (9:30 am), continues with Elkarrekin Podemos-IU (11:00) Yes PP+Cs (12:30).

Gorrotxategi said in a press conference that the coalition’s representation will be David Soto, Jon Hernández and himself. As he progresses, they will make a series of requests on things like health, housing, energy crisis or education.

On the latter issue, Gorrotxategi has insisted that he will ask “to fulfill the education pact, and based on that we will determine our position on various political milestones, such as the passing of the law or the bills themselves. The education pact must be fulfilled and for that a public educational offer must be guaranteed in all places, that is stated in the pact,” he explained.

Two weeks ago, the Basque government approved a budget project of 14,250.7 million euros, an increase of 8.7% compared to 2022, with an increase of 1,142 million euros. Azpiazu recalled that the coalition government (PNV-PSE-EE) has a majority in parliament to carry out its bills, but reiterated its call for an agreement so that budgets come out with more consensus.
