Police officers were warned Monday night at an apartment in Vienna-Favoriten after a man (35) strangled his ex-girlfriend (39) and threatened her with death. The suspect then fled.
The woman informed the officers that the man had already been convicted several times for violent and property crimes. A short time later, the man was found in a courtyard and arrested.
Throw the baby on the bed
According to police, the detainee briefly took the 39-year-old woman’s daughter, who was only 20 months old. He threatened to take the girl with him as long as alleged money debts were not paid off. The ex-girlfriend is said to have begged the 39-year-old to leave the child alone. He then threw the baby on the bed and fled.
Neither the woman nor the child were injured in the incident. To protect the woman and child, the police have issued a ban on the man being groomed and approached, as well as a temporary ban on weapons.
