Six people have been killed in an earthquake in Nepal. Five others were injured and taken to a hospital, a local police official said Wednesday. Even in India tremors were felt.
The earthquake’s epicenter, measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale, was about 340 kilometers west of the capital Kathmandu near the city of Dipayal, according to the US Geological Survey.
Some houses were damaged. Local authorities said they were still determining the extent of damage and the number of victims.

Quakes were also reported in northern India as far as the capital New Delhi. There were initially no reports of deaths or damage.
