Because a driver had a heart attack, a Viennese rescue helicopter had to land on the Viennese southeast tangent (A23) during rush hour. However, the Vienna professional rescue service was only able to determine death.
The emergency occurred at the southbound Prater interchange. The ultimately failed rescue operation caused huge traffic jams. On the A23 southbound, the vehicles stood as far as Hirschstetten.
kilometer long traffic jam
In a northerly direction, the traffic jam – according to ÖAMTC probably caused by spectators – was about ten kilometers long. There was also no progress on the Ostautobahn (A4) towards Vienna. Here it ran back to Schwechat. The traffic situation slowly improved around 5.30 pm. Only one lane was closed in a southerly direction.
