The training course for 64 soldiers sent from Kiev starts Monday in Toledo

Spain has brought to Ukraine four new Hawk surface-to-air missile systems and a battery of 105/14 OTO Melara M-56 towed artillery howitzers. These heavy weapons are added to the other two missile batteries of the same model. Military sources explained that the shipment was being tested by the Defense Contact Group for Ukraine, to which an Aspide Air Force anti-aircraft missile system has been added.

The shipment of the missiles, coordinated by the Operations Command and managed from the military base El Copero (Seville), was carried out by road to Poland. In addition, Spain has sent four 400-kilowatt generator sets to the European country and already has a 150-kilowatt generator set in Poland for distribution.

The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, accompanied by the Army Chief of Staff, General Amador Enseñat,

He took part this Thursday in an informational meeting at the headquarters of the division on the education and training of Ukrainian soldiers in Spain. This cooperation is part of the European Union Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM Ukraine) and the first major effort of which has been taken over by the army.

During the ceremony, Colonel Yulia Tapaciok, head of bilateral relations for the European region of the Ukrainian Joint Chiefs of Staff, emphasized that the warm “Spain, the European country with the most sunny days, is the first European country to provide Ukraine with winter uniforms” ( a total of 77,000 uniforms were delivered in September.) Tapaciok recalled that the war continues and that they need more reinforcements “to win this war and have a normal life all over Europe”, stating that “the enemy can destroy our homes.” destroy our families, but he cannot defeat us or our allies. ”

The Spanish military commanders explained the training program for Ukrainian troops in Spain. Currently, at a training camp in Almería, a group of 21 Ukrainian soldiers are training to handle the 105/14 howitzer – part of the recent shipment of heavy weapons – a training course that will last eight days.

Basic training for 64 Ukrainian soldiers will begin next Monday in the facilities of the Toledo Academy, where the ‘Training Modules’, one of the centers designated by the European Union military command, is located. During this basic training, the Ukrainian army, supervised by three interpreters, is instructed in, among other things, how to deal with casualties in combat, precision shooting, combating improvised explosive devices (IED) and demining.

Both missions are not the first to train soldiers on Spanish soil. Recently, 19 of them were instructed in the use of the Aspide anti-aircraft system by personnel of the Air Deployment Support Squadron (EADA) at Zaragoza Air Base.
