On Tuesday, a player won the world record jackpot of $2.04 billion from the US Powerball lottery. The winner has not yet been announced. But the seller of the lot in Altadena, California, can already look forward to it.
Joseph “Joe” Chahayed, who runs Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, receives a huge $1 million bonus. This means that the entrepreneur can call himself a millionaire. He is from Syria and settled in the US in 1980 with his wife and two children.
He doesn’t know who bought the ticket. But he hopes it’s someone close by. He is very happy with his own million, but not working anymore is not an option for him: “I keep coming to the store every morning at six o’clock as usual.”
Joe Chahayed works hard seven days a week to financially support his children and 11 grandchildren. “My son is expecting a baby in two months and we are very excited!”
