Spectacular accident in Nassereith in the Tyrolean district of Imst on Friday! During an overtaking maneuver, two cars, driven by two Germans aged 54 and 61, collided sideways. The result: both drivers were injured. The 54-year-old’s passenger even had to be rescued from the helicopter.
The serious accident happened around 9:40 am. The 61-year-old was driving his car on Obsteig’s Mieminger Bundesstraße and wanted to overtake the 54-year-old’s car and an articulated vehicle. “When his car was level with the other car, the 54-year-old also swerved to overtake the articulated vehicle,” police said. The result was a side collision.
Helicopter co-driver admitted to the clinic
“Then the 61-year-old’s car hit the trailer of the articulated vehicle. The 54-year-old’s car hit the right side of the road and crashed into several trees.” Both drivers were injured in the accident, and the 54-year-old’s passenger was so seriously injured that she had to be flown by rescue helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck.
There was serious damage to both cars. In addition to the helicopter, the rescue service, the Nassereith fire brigade and the police were also present.
