Four people were injured in a gun attack near a high school in the Canadian metropolis of Montreal. According to a police spokeswoman, several shots were fired on Friday afternoon in a park opposite the Collège Montmorency. The four injured fled to the school and were later taken to hospital for treatment.
The background was initially unclear. While the police launched a massive manhunt for the gunman, the school with about 10,000 students and teachers remained closed until the evening.
Second incident at another university
In a university about 40 kilometers south of Montreal, police had previously arrested a 19-year-old wearing a body armor after making verbal threats. According to local media, students and teachers of the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu school had to hide in classrooms for hours while police officers searched for the 19-year-old. In this case, too, the background was initially unclear.
