Camp explored – beggars lived with small children in dilapidated house

Date:

The coordinated cooperation between the city and the police has again borne fruit: two illegal camps in Linz were investigated during a nightly grid investigation by the city police and the city census service.

Before Corona it often happened that beggar camps could be dug in cars, tents or underpasses. The groups from Eastern Europe did not stop at old buildings either, for example they almost constantly occupied the old chair factory on Wiener Strasse and lived there amid mountains of rubbish.

Camping in abandoned house investigated
As part of a coordinated action by the city police command and the investigative service, they found what they were looking for again – and twice. In a demolished house near the roundabout, a beggar’s camp could be investigated. Among the people found were several small children – the youngest just two and a half years old – and three known villains who were taken into police custody for accumulated fines of four figures each.

Apparent moonlighters from Eastern Europe apprehended
The next blow came in the south of Linz. There, several Eastern Europeans were found in a business building, who lived there under the most appalling conditions. There is a suspicion of undeclared work. FP security officer Raml: “Thank you to the emergency services. Their consistent approach should put an end to illegal begging.”
