In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 21,134 lives in Austria since its outbreak. So far there are 5,510,919 confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections. About 40,400 of these are currently considered active cases, about 2,100 more infected than the day before. The effective number of reproductions, which indicates how many other people an infected person infects, is currently 0.95 and therefore comparable to the week before (0.90). According to AGES, the number of new infections is currently rising slightly by 0.6 percent per day, which was still falling a week ago.
