Austria will deliver nine fire-fighting vehicles to Ukraine in the coming weeks. This is a joint initiative with the federal states of Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Upper Austria, Lower Austria and Styria, the city of Salzburg and the fire service.
The aid is in addition to a shipment of 10,000 helmets, more than 9,100 protective vests and nearly 200,000 liters of fuel that have already been brought to Ukraine in recent weeks, the Federal Chancellery announced in a broadcast on Wednesday.
“Austria has shown great willingness to help in recent weeks and months and has supported Ukraine both financially and humanitarianly.” As a militarily neutral country, aid is provided in the form of protective equipment and fuel for civilian use, Nehammer emphasized.
Different vehicle types
The vehicles are of different types. Starting with tank fire-fighting vehicles and equipment to resupplying vehicles with rescue scissors, emergency power generators, lifting bags and rescue stretchers. This is particularly suitable for rescue operations related to collapsed and destroyed objects.
