Injured in hospital – Alko-Lenker fell asleep and crashed into a rock face

Serious accident in the early morning hours on Sunday in the Tyrolean Oberland: A 41-year-old driver fell asleep while driving, ended up on the oncoming roadway and eventually crashed into a rock wall. The local resident, who was under the influence of alcohol, according to the police, suffered injuries.

The accident happened around 06:00 near Fliess (Landeck district). The 41-year-old was driving his car on L76 Landecker Straße towards Prutz when he suddenly fell asleep at the wheel.

“The local resident’s car then drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a rock wall, then slid a few feet further and finally came to a stop on the shoulder of the lane,” police said.

No oncoming traffic at this time
Fortunately, there was no oncoming traffic at the time. However, the 41-year-old suffered injuries and was taken by ambulance to Zams Hospital after first aid.

A breathalyzer test showed “significant alcohol consumption”. The man’s driver’s license has been provisionally suspended. Appropriate advertisements will follow. There was massive damage to the car.
