When a mother dies, the world comes to a standstill. This is how things are going with Sophie, Maximiliaan and their father from Northern Burgenland at the moment. Yet it must continue.
Unfortunately, it is not only the loss of the mother that weighs on the soul. The house in northern Burgenland where the family lives is old. They bought it together three years ago. Wanted to fix it up slowly. But exactly three years ago, exactly at Christmas, the bad news came: mama Daniela has breast cancer. A world collapses for the little family, but you fight, hope to win. Although the father continues to work as a liquor supplier, he also lovingly cares for his wife. Of course the focus is on the recovery of the mother, the renovation of the house is put on the back burner.
But now the worst has happened: Mama Daniela has lost her battle against cancer.
Everything is currently missing
What remains is the man, the two children aged ten and twelve and a lot of debts. It really lacks in every nook and cranny. Clothes, new beds and money for the renovation of the chimney. The small family cannot even heat at the moment.
The Volkshilfe Burgenland and the “Krone” want to help here. Volkshilfe president Verena Dunst: “I can sympathize with what happens to a young family when a mother dies. This breaks my heart. I call on all Burgenlanders to help here! So that we can at least alleviate the financial concerns of the small family lighten up a bit.”
