Kiev accuses: – “Russian soldiers steal cars and bicycles”

Date:

After retreating to the eastern bank of the Dnipro River near Kherson in southern Ukraine, Russian soldiers are building new defensive positions there, according to information from Kiev. At the same time, in Kakhovka district, for example, they have increasingly started stealing means of transport from the civilian population, the Ukrainian General Staff said in Kiev on Sunday. “They steal private cars, motorcycles and even bicycles from people,” the statement said.

Such raids on occupied territories usually presage further troop withdrawals. As soon as Russian units withdrew from Izyum in the Kharkiv region of eastern Ukraine, the occupiers “used” the bicycles of the population because they had run out of fuel for their vehicles, it was said.

Kiev: More than 8,300 civilians killed since the start of the war
Since the beginning of the Russian offensive war in Ukraine on February 24, more than 8,300 civilians, including 437 children, have been killed. So says Ukrainian Attorney General Andriy Kostin, according to a report on the Internet portal “Unian” on Sunday. More than 11,000 people were injured. According to Kostin, the real number of victims is probably higher because the Ukrainian authorities still have no access to some Russian-held areas.

Ukrainian authorities reportedly have recorded more than 45,000 war crimes. 216 people were reported as suspected war criminals, including 17 Russian prisoners of war. Twelve of the sixty suspects have been convicted so far.

Authorities: Increasing evidence of Russian atrocities
According to official reports, Ukrainian authorities are finding increasing evidence of atrocities committed by the former Russian occupiers in the liberated areas of Kherson, Kharkiv and Donetsk. More than 700 bodies have been discovered in these areas in the past two months, Kostin said on state television on Saturday night. Civilians were involved in about 90 percent of the cases.

Kiev rejects the negotiations
Ukraine, meanwhile, has again rejected proposals to negotiate with Russia. “When you take the initiative on the battlefield, it’s a bit bizarre to get suggestions like, ‘You have to negotiate,'” Ukraine’s presidential aide Mykhailo Podoliak said in Kiev. This would mean that “the country that regains its territory must surrender to the country that loses”.

Several explosions at Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant
The Zaporizhia nuclear power plant has now been fired upon, according to Russian sources. The state news agency TASS cites Russian energy company Rosenergoatom as shooting Ukraine near a nuclear storage facility. According to measurements, no radioactive radiation escaped.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA/IAEA) has confirmed several powerful explosions at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. IAEA experts on the ground reported dozens of impacts near and on the site of Europe’s largest nuclear facility, the agency said on Sunday. “Whoever is behind it, it must stop immediately,” IAEA chief Rafael Grossi demanded. “As I’ve often said, you’re playing with fire!”
