Sweet offspring for Zurich Zoo on Easter Saturday – instead of a chocolate bunny, an elephant calf “in the nest” landed.
The 19-year-old Farha gave birth to the male young animal. The birth went without complications. The elephant calf stands and drinks what a first good sign is, as the Zurich Zoo announced on Sunday.

“At exactly 2:22 pm on Saturday the elephant calf fell on the sandy bottom of the Kaeng Krechan Elephant Park in the Zurich Zoo”. The father of the young animal is the 20-year-old Elephant Bull Thai.
The first contractions were already used on Thursday. The birth is good news for the highly endangered type of Asian elephants. The population in the wilderness shrinks.
Immediately after birth, Elephant Cow Farha took her new role as mother animals and took care of the young animal.
