The last ten winners of the Nobel Peace Prize

2022: Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialiatski, the Russian organization Memorial and the Center for Civil Liberties in Ukraine have been honored “for their impressive efforts to document war crimes, human rights violations and abuses of power”.

2021: Journalists Maria Ressa (Philippines) and Dmitri Muratov (Russia) are rewarded “for their efforts to guarantee freedom of expression, a precondition for democracy and lasting peace”.

2020: The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) was recognized for “its efforts in the fight against hunger, its contribution to improving peace conditions in conflict zones and for its efforts to prevent hunger from becoming a weapon of war”.

2019: Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed drew attention for the reconciliation between his country and Eritrea.

2018: Gynecologist Denis Mukwege (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Yazidi Nadia Murad were honored for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war.

2017: The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) has been recognized for its fight to abolish nuclear weapons.

2016: Juan Manuel Santos received the award for helping to end half a century of internal war in Colombia.

2015: The Quartet for the National Dialogue in Tunisia, which then made it possible to save the Tunisian democratic transition.

2014: Malala Yousafzai (Pakistan) and Kailash Satyarthi (India) were honored for their fight against the exploitation of children and young people and for everyone’s right to education.

2013: The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) received the award for its efforts to eradicate these types of weapons of mass destruction.
