After the armed robbery of a gas station in the west of Innsbruck a week ago, the Tyrolean police were able to track down two suspects. The duo – two local residents aged 22 and 31 – are now in custody. The alleged robbers come from the drug world.
Dramatic scenes took place at the petrol station on Kranebitter Allee in Innsbruck on the night of November 13. Around 03:00 two perpetrators in balaclavas stormed into the company premises through a side entrance and threatened the employee with a hammer and a knife.
The hooded crooks demanded money, put their hand in the cash drawer and then made off with a few hundred euros.
Admitted to prison
A search for the perpetrators initially turned up nothing. The day after, the LKA Tyrol reported to “Krone” that one or the other tip had been received and that it was being processed. After extensive investigation, the handcuffs of two suspects clicked. The alleged perpetrators are two Austrians.
“The 22-year-old suspect is unemployed and has made an extensive confession,” says researcher Albert Maurer of the LKA Tirol in the interview with “Krone”. The 31-year-old is taking early retirement. “He denies any connection to the crime.”
Drug bought with loot
According to detective Maurer, the suspects come from the drug scene. What was the motive? Drugs were bought with the loot. He was arrested by order of the public prosecutor and taken to Innsbruck prison. Murder weapons, masks and clothing were seized.
