The mayor of the city of Cianjur, Herman Suherman, has emphasized that “patients continue to arrive”, before adding that “the majority are from the northern region”. The quake struck at 1:21 p.m. (local time), with the epicenter 10 kilometers south of the city of Cianjur, according to Indonesia’s National Meteorological, Geophysical and Climatic Agency.

Likewise, it has indicated that the quake has caused a power outage to more than 365,000 people in Cianjur, in West Java, before stressing that authorities are working to “restore electricity quickly,” as it collected Indonesian television channel Kompas.

According to the information collected by this television channel, the high number of injuries has led to some patients being treated in the parking lot of Cianjur Hospital due to the lack of beds to treat all the victims.
