A priest in Bavaria sexually assaulted youths and forced them to have sex with clients in his bedroom. The Nuremberg-Fürth District Court subsequently sentenced him to two years and eight months in prison. In addition, an order was given to place the man in a rehabilitation center.
The priest committed the crimes in 2019 and 2020. He was on relevant gay dating forums and pretended to be a young man, Kathpress reported. In at least 14 cases, the pastor had the young people work in prostitution, found suitors for them and rented out his bedroom in an apartment in Fürth. He then photographed and filmed the sexual acts – without his young victims being aware of it.
Wanted to get rid of pornographic content
The perpetrator is said to have had no pastoral work, but lived as a retired pastor in Fürth. This is reported by the spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Bamberg, Harry Luck. The man was already arrested at the end of August 2020. During a house search, officers caught him throwing storage media with child and youth pornography in the toilet. He was then imprisoned for four months.
On June 16, 2021, the pastor was finally convicted in the first instance. However, the Nuremberg-Fürth judges granted the man’s appeal and reduced the total sentence by four months in prison. The ruling is now final.
Alcoholic and need therapy
The priest confessed and has already made payments to several affected. A psychiatric expert declared him addicted to alcohol. Without therapy, the man remains in danger, it said. In a first reaction on Monday, the Fürth dean Andre Hermany spoke of a “disgusting case”. All those responsible in his district were shocked.
