Fatal skiing accident on Sunday afternoon on the Hintertux Glacier in the Tyrolean Zillertal: a four-year-old girl lost control on the slope, could no longer brake and crashed into a lift support with full force. The child, who was wearing a helmet, was seriously injured.
For mother (44) and daughter from Baden-Württemberg, Germany, it was supposed to be a great ski day on the Hintertux Glacier. Unfortunately, the four-year-old girl ended up in hospital with serious injuries.
“The woman and her child were skiing on a blue slope when the four-year-old girl lost control of her skis and was unable to brake. “She went down the slope into the path of a drag lift and ultimately struck an unsecured lift support,” police said.
Serious head injury despite wearing a helmet
Although the girl was wearing a ski helmet, she suffered serious head injuries from the violent impact. After initial treatment at the scene of the accident, the child was flown by emergency helicopter to Innsbruck University Hospital.
