This Monday morning, Oihana Goiriena was able to visit for the first time her partner, the journalist Pablo González, who has been imprisoned and incommunicado in Poland since February 28. The two-hour visit moved González, who according to Goiriena is “nervous and takes it badly”, although with this first meeting he has “regained his strength because it seems like a door has opened, a hole in his lack of communication that encourages him”.
This first visit was the result of his lawyer’s insistence on the prosecutor’s office, which both Goiriena and González hope will be a turning point in this process, which is “paralyzed”.
As reported by Goiriena, Poland is “moving very slowly, a lot of obstacles are being placed, so it won’t be short”. In this sense, he explained that the provisional prison will now be reviewed and that they are “quite clear” that González’s prison will be extended, “at least until he is one year old”. Then, from then on, although it is more difficult to extend the prison stay, it could happen, although “we all take another three months for granted”.
Likewise, Goiriena has assured that the journalist is aware of all the support he is receiving in Euskadi, “but hearing my words has moved him and he thanks everyone”.
