A senior lawyer said Boris Johnson could be fined thousands of pounds for breaking the lock. Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak have been fined for violating the country’s strict restrictions imposed by Covid during the pandemic.
On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police met both, along with the wife of Prime Minister Kerry, to pay a fixed fine for violating the rules in June 2020. All three confirmed they had paid the fines and apologized.
However, human rights lawyer Adam Wagner said Boris Johnson could pay more than 10,000 yen in Downing Street party fines if more are issued. Speaking to Sky News, Wagner said: “Everyone doubles, so if the prime minister attends six meetings and five of them he faces a fixed fine – if he gets a fixed fine on each of them, he can pay more than 1,000,000.”
When asked if he was considering additional sanctions against Mr. Johnson, the lawyer replied: “I would be surprised if he wasn’t. I’ve always thought the Christmas party was too simple, but there are other, wiser gatherings: December 18 and the Christmas party and the various departure parties.”
I think a fine has already been announced for someone’s departure. If they are all similar enough, it seems to me that there will be some persistent punishment message, perhaps for the PM as well. “
