Fatal road accident Wednesday afternoon in Kitzbühel in Tyrol: The car of a 41-year-old Croat was hit by a truck and thrown against a hedge. The driver of the car was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by firefighters. She suffered serious injuries.
The accident happened in the early afternoon on Pass-Thurn-Straße. After the 41-year-old Croatian stopped at a stop sign, she turned her car onto the B161, according to police. At the same time, a Bulgarian truck driver (45) was driving from Kitzbühel towards Lienz. And then it crashed!
Injured with rescue to hospital
The woman’s car was hit by the truck and thrown into an adjacent hedge by the force of the impact. “The 41-year-old was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed with rescue scissors by the alarmed fire brigade,” the police said. After first aid at the scene of the accident, she was transported by ambulance to the district hospital in St. Johann. “The ambulance helicopter could not land due to fog,” said the fire service.
Road partly completely blocked
The Bulgarian truck driver escaped with a fright and was unharmed. Pass-Thurn-Strasse was partly completely closed during the operation and the clean-up work in the area of the accident site and was then passable in one lane. The Kitzbühel fire brigade was deployed with four vehicles and 23 troops, as well as the rescue service and police with two vehicles.
