The Basque Parliament has urged the Basque government to do so extend the 50% discounts during the year 2023 in public transport from which the Basque citizens benefit. This aid will be evaluated after 6 months and it will be analyzed whether the circumstances that motivated the aid are present.
Despite the PNV’s doubts, Elkarrekin Podemos’ amendment eventually won the support of all parties.
Inigo Martinezof Elkarrekin Podemos, stressed that “in the Basque Country we have sufficient political and financial capacity to be able to maintain these discounts to help our families and promote public transport”.
Martinez has emphasized the importance of strong public transportation. In this sense, he recalled that this measure has had a direct impact on people’s wallets and also has a good impact on traffic, as well as on the use of public transport.
Irune Berasaluzeof the PNV has expressed support for the amendment, but recalled that 30% of this aid corresponds to the Government of Spain, and that now that the Basque institutions are asked to provide 50%, they must pay in full to our institutions.
In this sense, he has demanded that Podemos and the PSOE find their way from Madrid. “We are in favor of keeping the commitment, and that was to hold today, that is to put in 20%. We hope that it can be done from Madrid,” he stressed.
