If her right-wing National Rally wins parliamentary elections on Sunday, Marine Le Pen wants to prevent Ukraine from using French long-range weapons to strike targets in Russia – unlike President Emmanuel Macron, who may even consider sending French troops to Ukraine.
After the triumph in the first round of voting, the RN is already dreaming of great success, including government responsibility (see video above) and is increasing the pressure on Macron just before the second round of voting. Because even if the main lines of foreign policy in France are not determined by the prime minister but by the president, the head of state is dependent on a majority in the National Assembly – not least when it comes to the budget. Therefore, a prime minister from the ranks of the right-wing extremists could certainly bring about a change in Ukraine policy.
RN chief Jordan Bardella has already announced that Ukraine must be able to defend itself against the Russian war of aggression. However, he is against any device that could escalate the situation and does not want to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles and weapons that could hit Russian territory.
In addition to the American ATACMS and the British Storm Shadow, the Ukrainian army also receives French SCALP cruise missiles, which are used in the fight against the Russian occupiers.
Deaths in drone attacks in Donetsk
During mutual drone attacks, Russia and Ukraine caused considerable damage in their respective neighboring countries on Saturday night. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia attacked 12 Ukrainian regions. Of the 32 drones, 24 were shot down, but several areas also reported hits. In the suburbs of Kiev, a private house and a car were damaged by falling drone debris. According to Ukrainian sources, eight people were killed in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk.
On the other hand, the Krasnodar region of southern Russia, which has been increasingly targeted in recent times, was again the target of the strikes. The drones were shot down, but their debris set fire to fuel depots in the Pavlovskaya and Leningradskaya districts and damaged a radio tower in the city of Yeysk, the regional crisis team said in a statement.
