Dangerous scenes took place on the southeastern motorway (A3) in the district of Baden in Lower Austria on Friday evening. Two horses were free on the road after a traffic accident.
Drivers had to slow down and swerve. According to the fire service, in the accident near Pottendorf on the Eisenstadt roadway, the coupling of the horse trailer had come loose, which then fell sideways. Because the roof broke during the collision, the two transported horses escaped. Startled and frightened, they ran against the direction of travel on the A3 and were eventually overtaken again between Ebreichsdorf-West and Pottendorf.
A horse injured
The southeastern highway had to be temporarily closed, according to the fire department. In an accident in the traffic jam area, there was only fender damage. A car crashed into the guardrail. According to the emergency services, one of the two horses suffered at least one demonstrable injury to the hind leg.
