The war in Ukraine is accompanied by numerous photos and videos intended to capture the events from close up. It is not uncommon for these shots to come from computer games such as the tactical shooter “Arma 3”. The developer is therefore now urging caution – revealing how to spot the fake videos.
Blurred images purporting to show nighttime fire from Ukraine’s air defenses circulated on Twitter and other social media shortly after Russia’s offensive war in Ukraine began in late February. In fact, the footage came from the computer game “War Thunder”, which shows the virtual implementation of the Israeli anti-missile shield “Iron Dome”.
