95% of candidate firefighters in Álava and Gipuzkoa fail the OPE

The 75% of the candidates for the first Joint OPE of firefighters for Gipuzkoa and Álava failed the first test. The test has sparked controversy since the 95% of interim firefighters failed this first test and criticize that the exam model has not been adapted to assess the position.

It’s the first time the acute academy performed a joint test to cover 114 places in Gipuzkoa and Álava.

The knowledge and aptitude tests were conducted in Irun (Gipuzkoa) and from the 1170 persons that were presented passed the 287 exams, that is, the 24.5%of which 269 ​​are men and 18 are womenwho will continue the selection process to choose the 46 places offered by the Provincial Council of Álava and the 68 by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.

The following tests of the selection process are of personality and physicalboth qualifications and those who pass will have to dedicate a compulsory academic period, also subject to evaluation, and later on, the selected persons will carry out an internship period.

Candidates who pass this OPE but fail to secure a place will be included in the temporary job bank of the Basque Academy of Police and Emergency Situations to cover vacancies and replacements in the parks of Álava and Gipuzkoa.
