Bizarre death – hunter shot by own dog in Turkey

Date:

During a hunting weekend with friends in Turkey, a bizarre but tragic accident reportedly occurred: 32-year-old Özgür Gevrekoğlu had loaded his hunting equipment into his car when his dog jumped into the boot. The four-legged friend is said to have pulled the trigger of a gun – his owner was hit at close range and died at the scene of the accident. However, the police are not sure whether to believe this version or whether a crime was behind the incident.

The accident happened last weekend on the Kizlan plateau in Samsun province. After the trip, the 32-year-old had packed his hunting gear — including a loaded shotgun. When one of his dogs jumped into the car, a shot was finally fired. The alarmed rescuers could do nothing more for the young man.

Investigating authorities – was it murder?
But the police and the public prosecutor’s office are not entirely convinced of this version. Investigations into the death are ongoing, an autopsy should now provide more conclusive information. The conjecture: Gevrekoğlu could have been shot by a biped who wanted to cover up a murder with the dog story.

According to local media, Gevrekoğlu only became a father ten days before the accident. He must have been a dog lover – there are lots of pictures of furry friends on his Facebook profile. It is not known which dog was involved in the incident.
