Riots in the stairwell, sprayed pepper spray, a knife and WEGA officials were the ingredients of an operation in the Favoriten district on Thursday morning. A 22-year-old suspect had completely lost her temper. The incident should have claimed a total of four injuries.
The young woman is said to have started rioting in the apartment around 7:45 am before she started throwing objects at neighbors’ doors in the stairwell. The suspect also grabbed the tear gas and sprayed it. Then the police were alerted.
When the officers arrived, the woman suddenly also had a knife in her hand, so that WEGA was called in as a backup. The 22-year-old was arrested by officers at her home. At that point she no longer had the knife with her. Due to her psychological condition, the woman was taken to a hospital and an entry and approach ban has been issued.
Injured mother and two children
The spraying of the pepper spray had consequences: a 42-year-old neighbor and her two children, aged four and 16, were injured by the irritating gas, which apparently entered the family’s apartment, the director said. All three were cared for by the Vienna Professional Rescue Service and then taken to a hospital. In addition, the 22-year-old would have injured her 63-year-old stepfather with a mirror on his leg.
