The Ministry of Social Affairs wants to create national preconditions for personal guidance in all areas of life. The Ministry of Social Affairs has made a total of 100 million euros available for this purpose.
Personal assistance is “essential to be able to lead a self-determined life,” explains Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens). So far, the offers vary from state to state and the system is relatively complicated. That should change now: Rauch wants to simplify the system through Austria-wide, uniform regulations for work and leisure. 100 million euros will be available for this in the coming years.
A corresponding pilot project will start in the spring in the states of Vorarlberg, Tyrol and Salzburg. The developed criteria are intended to create uniform preconditions for the first time, for example for the definition of personal assistance, determination of needs, service provision, performance and quality assurance. The other federal states must also be involved in the coming years.
Joint point of contact planned
The circle of beneficiaries is also expanded to include people with mental or psychological disabilities. In addition, there must be a common point of contact in the sense of the one-stop-shop principle. In addition, future employment and social security protections for assistants are planned.
No compulsory participation for countries
The 100 million euros ensure that an expansion to the whole of Austria is possible. There is no obligation for the federal states to standardize – the minister did point out that the payment of the funds is linked to certain rules. He wants to work intensively in the coming years to ensure that the other federal states also follow suit.
