Fireplaces and tiled stoves are currently particularly ‘hot good’, but this is increasing the demand for firewood. Many Austrians no longer feel like the terrible prices and go into the forest to gather wood. However, this is forbidden and carries severe penalties. We will tell you what you are legally allowed to do in the forest and who owns Austria’s unique forests.

Many wood suppliers are already sold out, remaining stocks are sold at exorbitant prices to regular customers. If a running meter of wood cost 80 to 90 euros last year, you now have to pay between 200 and 250 euros. The report of the “Krone” provoked many reactions.
