Viennese seriously injured – scooter driver rolled through train in metro station

A scooter driver was hit and seriously injured by a train at Schwedenplatz U4 station in central Vienna on Tuesday evening.

As a result, the 31-year-old fell with his scooter on the track of the U4 shortly before 7 p.m. A train entering the station failed to stop in time despite an emergency brake. A report about this from the news portal “Oe24.at” was confirmed by the Viennese professional rescue service upon request.

Overwhelmed by equipment
The man was run over by the garrison and suffered serious injuries to his upper body and legs. According to professional rescue spokesperson Andreas Huber, there was no danger to life at an initial assessment. Station U4 was closed until about 8 p.m. Wiener Linien appealed to its passengers not to drive scooters on the platforms.
