Awakened by the crying of a one-year-old toddler, a 45-year-old immediately threatened a neighboring family in Lower Austria with murder.
“If your kid wakes me up again, I’ll kill you and your family.” With this sentence, the Prokic family from Pottenstein in the district of Baden suddenly lost the recovery from the holiday they had just finished. The threat came from the neighbor (45), who was armed with an ax in front of the door.
The one-year-old’s crying woke him up shortly after 8 p.m. “We had just returned home when he suddenly stood there,” says house father Darko Prokic (29).
Not interested in a common solution
The 29-year-old then immediately alerted the police, and moments later the handcuffs clicked for the quarreling neighbour, who had reported the couple several times in the past for making noise. “It started when my wife was pregnant. Even then he often accused us of being too noisy. But supposedly at times when I’m already asleep for work-related reasons,” says Prokic. He had even tried to come to a solution together “But he’s not interested in it at all,” Prokic said.

In any case, the screams of a small child cannot disturb the 45-year-old at the moment. Since then he has been held in the Wiener Neustadt prison and has to answer for attempted aggravated coercion. Meanwhile, the Prokic family is considering renting out or even selling their apartment: “That would be a shame. We only bought it three years ago and invested a lot of money in it.” But continuing with normal life as before is out of the question.
