In the future, China will allow anyone with a mild course of the disease or no symptoms at all to self-quarantine.
While the rest of the world tries to live with the virus, China has adopted a strict zero-Covid strategy of lockdowns, daily mass testing, strict surveillance, contact tracing and enforced quarantine.
Isolate at home without symptoms
The National Health Commission announced on Wednesday that people can self-isolate at home and treat themselves if they have no symptoms and a mild course of the disease. Should their condition worsen, they can go to designated clinics themselves. The strict corona entry restrictions were also recently relaxed.
Recently, 7400 new cases were reported
Most recently, the number of new coronavirus infections in China had risen to the highest level in six months. Accordingly, more than 7400 cases have been reported. This is the highest value since the two-month lockdown in the eastern Chinese port city of Shanghai in March and April.
